Built in 1731, by the Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena, The Manoel Theatre, today stands as one of the oldest working theatres in Europe. The theater was built to entertain the Knights of Malta at the time, today the Manoel Theatre is a baroque gem with breathtaking acoustic and a full calendar of events populated by local and international performers, with productions in English as well as in Maltese. Apart from visiting the theatre, one can do a guided tour of the theatre, and its museum. On display one can see lavish stage costumes along with antique sound-effects machines and archival programmes.
